We love the handle Woodshed Strong. It’s our current ID on Instagram, we’ve used it on a few t-shirts and swag, and our coaches and members have been known to hashtag it pretty liberally.
As we get ready to reopen our indoor sessions here in Massachusetts, now seems like a great time to reintroduce this handle and take a moment or two to unpack it.
As the owner of Woodshed, one of the things I’m proudest of is the way we talk to each other and our community about strength in particular, and fitness in general. We don’t wield these things as exclusionary tools. They’re not end states and they aren’t things someone else tells you that you have or you don’t.
We look at being Woodshed Strong as having a platform underfoot so that you can stand as tall as you like.
When you need help with your foundation, whether for the first time or fifth time, we help you rebuild your basic strength and movement so that you can do the things you want to and feel the way you’d like in your everyday life. You tell us how you’d like to feel, how you’d like to be, and we help you get there. And we’ll do that as often as we need to. Because life gets messy sometimes. This we know.
And if you want to take the next step up, whether that’s a road race, a weightlifting meet, or simply hitting some fitness goals you’ve made for yourself, we help you push off your foundation to move forward. You tell us how you’d like to perform, where you’d like to go and what you’d like to do, and we help you get there.
We’re fitness coaches and health providers, not drill sergeants. We’re all adults with busy lives and responsibilities, and when you come to us for help, we understand that you’re trusting us to walk this path with you, not dangle carrots overhead and wait for you to catch up.
So for us, Woodshed Strong isn’t a finish line. It’s not an object. It’s how we help our people and how our people help each other.
You tell us how you’d like to be and what you’d like to do. We’ll take it from there.
